FreeIt’s time for Mardi Gras 2018!
Get ready for Asbury Park Mardi Gras 2018! This is the 3rd annual event; join us as we bring a little bit of New Orleans into New Jersey. Free fun for adults & kids with mask making and face painting in the afternoon. Then don’t miss the masquerade ball that night!
1:00 to 500:
Pick up your free, undecorated mask at Backward Glances, inside the Shoppes at the Arcade, 658 Cookman Avenue. Then visit participating businesses downtown to get free decorations to apply to your mask. Tables with glue will be set up at the Shoppes at the Arcade to design your own special Mardi Gras creation. Enter the mask making contest for great prizes! Artist Raven will be on hand for free face painting. Live entertainment by the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation Youth Jam.
3:00 to 7:00:
Mardi Gras Happy Hour at Taka, 660 Cookman Avenue. Featuring Mardi Gras inspired cocktails and festive food with a Japanese flair. Happy Hour will be available at the bar.
7:00 doors:
The 3rd Annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball! This year’s ball will be held at a new cool venue: the Asbury Park Brewery, 810 Sewall Avenue. So enjoy local, craft beer while dancing the night away to our Mardi Gras favorites, the VooDUDES! Getting the night started will be the cooking sounds of HP and His Hot Take Out Band.
Dress in your best Mardi Gras attire to win the costume contest for amazing prizes from the Asbury Park merchants.$20 advance, $25 day of show. Tickets are available at Backward Glances (cash only with no extra fee) or on-line at Ticket Leap.
Ride our free shuttle to the Asbury Park Brewery for the Masquerade Ball! Our 12-passenger taxi van will be making a loop from Cookman (in front of Taka & the Shoppes) to the Brewery and back from 6:45 to 12:45. So no worries about finding parking near the Brewery, driving after Happy Hour, or walking in the cold.
As always, all profits from the ball go to a local charity. This year’s recipient is the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation, providing music education and scholarships to local students.
