Asbury Park Mardi Gras 2019

We’re doing it again! It’s time for Asbury Park Mardi Gras 2019! Join us as we bring a New Orleans style party to New Jersey for the 4th year! You can create a festive mask, eat and drink at happy hour, then dance away your winter blues at our masquerade ball.

12:00-4:00 Mask making for all ages:
Pick up your free, undecorated mask here at Backward Glances, inside the Shoppes at the Arcade, 658 Cookman Avenue. Then visit participating businesses downtown to get free decorations to apply to your mask. Tables with glue will be set up at the Shoppes at the Arcade to design your own special Mardi Gras creation.

After you’ve created your free mask, take a photo in front of our festive backdrop. Then post it on our contest page to enter our best mask contest! We’ll be letting people vote by liking the photos until Fat Tuesday (March 5th), then the winners will be announced. There will be prizes for best kids mask and best adult mask.

3:00-7:00 Mardi Gras happy hour at Taka, 660 Cookman Ave.:
featuring Mardi Gras inspired cocktails and festive food with a Japanese flair. Available at the bar.

5:30-9:30 The Masquerade Ball:
This year’s ball will be held at AP’s funkiest club, the Saint, 601 Main Street. Starring the VooDUDES with special guest. We’ll be crowning the King and Queen of the Ball in our costume contest, so plan your outfit to win the crown and wonderful prizes. $15 advance/$20 day of show. Tickets on sale at Backward Glances, the Saint (cash only, with no fees) , or online at  Ticketweb.
