Events in October: Asbury Underground & Asbury Bites

Asbury Underground & Asbury Bites: It’s a busy day for events in October!

It seems like all of Asbury Park’s events in October have been crammed into October 15th! Come downtown for the latest edition of ASBURY UNDERGROUND, the arts & music crawl. The crawl has been expanded to two days, 2 nights, 50 visual artists and one hundred musicians in thirty different venues. And it’s all free!

Most of the performances will take place on 10/15, starting at 12:00 and continuing around town until the after party which starts at 9:oo pm at the Asbury Hotel.  Backward Glances is proud to be a part of the Underground once again. We’ll be hosting singer-songwriter Karen Mansfield at 1:45 pm.  Check out a video of Karen here!

Also on October 15th, save some room for ASBURY BITES. Free food sampling from 12 different Asbury Park restaurants at 12 different Asbury Park retailers. This event will take place from 2 pm to 5 pm. Backward Glances will be giving out delicious goodies from Confections of a Rock Star, New Jersey’s original rock and roll themed bake shop. Owner Kimmee Masi is a vocalist and drummer, so she knows music, and baking, too.

But wait–there’s more going on here in the Shoppes at the Arcade building! Our upstairs neighbor, Groovy Graveyard will be hosting the ALL-STAR SUPER SHOCK SHOW from 12 pm to 5 pm on October 15th. There will be appearances by authors Mark Voger and Craig Yoe, and artists Sean Pryor, Steven Vincent, Len Danovich, Kelsy Cowan, and Noelia Rodriguez. Also zombie makeup artist Lisa Penzimer, Mark Moran from “Wierd NJ” and Rob Bruce from AMC’s “Comic Book Men” TV show.

When the Super Shock show ends at 5 pm, there will be live music from psychobilly rockers THE JUNK RUMBLERS from 5 pm to late in the evening. Yes, it’s all free!
