Flapper girls were the first truly liberated women of the 20th Century.  They wore short skirts (scandalous!), bobbed their hair, wore makeup, and listened to that new-fangled jazz music. They drove automobiles!  They smoked and drank! And worst of all, some of them even engaged in casual sex.
